What makes Tumescent liposuction a better option than traditional liposuction

Since 1994. Tumescent liposuction is considered the gold standard for removing fat and reshaping your curves with liposuction.

General anesthesia is not required with tumescent liposuction

Traditional liposuction typically requires general anesthesia. General anesthesia is the kind that anesthetizes your brain and essentially puts you to sleep, which is required on numerous medical procedures. It can be heavy on the patient before, during and after the procedure.

Whenever possible, surgeons prefer to use a local anesthetic for pain control during a procedure because it’s safer. A local anesthetic effectively blocks pain in specifically targeted areas but otherwise leaves your brain in charge. Avoiding the use of general anesthetic minimizes complications. Your blood pressure, respiratory rate, and other vital functions are still carefully monitored, but surgical risks are greatly reduced with local versus general anesthesia. Tumescent liposuction requires only a local anesthetic.

Its added value is plenty, some of which are:

No report of major complications or death since you and your muscles are awake the contouring is done much easier.

The chance of removing more fat as opposed to mix of blood and fat is much improved because the tumescent fluid restricts blood loss.

Much less pain blood loss

Much faster recovery.

Liposuction under general anesthesia is usually done in combination with other surgeries that may require an overnight hospital stay as you recover from the effects of the procedure. Tumescent liposuction is an outpatient procedure that our highly-skilled Dr. Bonni performs at our state of the art centers in LA and OC, California. Without the risks associated with general anesthesia, you can expect to be home resting and relaxed a few hours after tumescent liposuction.
