Robotic Surgery
The da Vinci® Surgical System is revolutionizing pelvic surgery. The system, which combines cutting-edge robotic technology and 3D endoscopy, is designed to help skilled surgeons perform minimally invasive procedures with precision unheard of prior to the advancement of robotic surgery. It is a form of laparoscapically assisted surgery. With da Vinci®, the most delicate procedures can be performed with extremely low risk of complications. Recovery is quicker than with conventional surgery and scarring is greatly minimized.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Dr. Bonni employs a miniature camera and specialized instruments to perform minimally invasive surgery. Through several small incisions, slender metal tubes are inserted into the abdomen. These provide passage for the laparoscope (a tiny telescope to which a camera is attached) and microsurgical instruments. The camera allows Dr. Bonni to examine the abdominal cavity. Compared with open surgery, the benefits of laparoscopic surgery include less postoperative discomfort, fewer complications, quicker recovery times, and minimal scarring. Dr. Bonni is an expert in minimally invasive and laparoscopically assisted surgeries. He has performed close to a thousand highly specialized such procedures. Dr. Bonni has had extensive trainig in laparoscopic surgery through his trainings in general surgery, laparoscopic gynecology as well as his fellowship training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive pelvic surgery.
Enterolysis – Adhesiolysis (Laparoscopic)
Adhesions are usually comprised of scar tissues caused by previous surgery or other diseases. According to the location and organs that they affect symptoms may vary. In women intestinal and pelvic adhesions are not that uncommon and often times are the cause of abdominal and pelvic pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, painful intercourse ( dyspareunia), voiding complaints and infertility. Adhesiolysisis the surgical removal or separation of adhesions. The use of minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques and adhesion barriers during adhesiolysis can minimize blood loss and complications. Laparoscopic enterolysis is a minimally invasive procedure that unblocks the small bowel by excising the adhesions.
